Kia ora! Warm Pacific Greetings! Welcome!

Proud to Play NZ is a charity trust and aims to promote inclusive sports and recreations in New Zealand.

Out on the Fields surveyed Kiwi’s and discovered that 78% of them have experienced homophobia in New Zealand sports.}
This survey is the largest and the first international study conducted into homophobia in sport and the experiences of gay, lesbian and bisexual people, including athletes, in sporting culture. The final results were released in May, 2015.

The philosophy of the Proud to Play tournament is based on the idea of playing sport in an inclusive environment – being proud to play, regardless of one’s sexual orientation or gender identity.

In May 2016, NZ Sports Organisations like NZ Rugby, NZ Football, NZ Hockey and others, launched a campaign #FOREVERYONE with the aim to break down barriers in sport regardless of Race, Gender or Sexuality. Proud to Play aims to work with these groups to help make sports a safe place for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and other rainbow communities.

Gay Ski Week      27 Aug - 3 Sep

PaddedImage500300FFFFFF-Gay-Ski-Week-2016

The Gay Ski Week festival in Queenstown, New Zealand has been an annual pilgramage for thousands of Gay & Lesbian travellers since 2003.

Gay Ski Week has become known as the Southern Hemisphere’s largest gay & lesbian winter festival. Hundreds of gay men and women descend upon Queenstown, New Zealand annually towards the end of August for the week-long celebration supported by the local government and community.

This fun-filled, whirlwind event is essentially seven days of socialising, dining, live music, partying, general hedonism and of course snow sports such as skiing and snowboarding are also on offer.

Naturally how you enjoy your Gay Ski Week is entirely up to you. Do you love to snowboard? Then you can hit the slopes by day and party by night. Not so fond of the white fluffy sky dust? Spend your time indoors with a cocktail in hand, socialising and enjoy the myriad of other activities on offer. Come for the atmosphere, and stay for the skiing.

That is the inherent appeal of Gay Ski Week – it’s customised to suit the way you have fun. This is because, unlike other winter destinations, Queenstown uniquely offers more than just extreme snow sports consisting of throwing one’s self from mountain tops. There is also a plethora of other activities for the adrenalin junkies including, white water rafting and river surfing, 4WD and quad biking, canoeing and kayaking, rock climbing, abseiling, and canyoning and so much more.

Behind this dazzling strip of adventure events? An array of fabulous restaurants with every type of cuisine, quaint bars, stylish clubs, and of course, chic boutique shopping. Queenstown is a rare gem that offers everything from snow to adventure to fine dining and Gay Ski Week takes advantage of every morsel!

So get on board for socialising, partying, and a ridiculous array of activities that is Gay Ski Week and help paint Queenstown rainbow!

Bookings launch in February each year so get your group together and our friendly booking team will be in touch soon!
